Recently, U.S. House Bill 2377 was passed out of the House Judiciary Committee. This federal red flag or extreme risk protection order (ERPO) legislation would undoubtedly erode our constitutionally protected individual rights. Not only does this legislation trample on gun rights, but due process rights are ignored as well. We must rally gun rights supporters and proponents of individual liberty to alert Congress to how poorly this bill is viewed by the American people.
Also known as the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act, U.S. House Bill 2377would allow for a petitioner to request an extreme risk protection order on someone they deem as a threat. Once an individual is deemed a threat under this legislation, they would be required to surrender their firearms or law enforcement could confiscate them, even without the individual being charged with a crime! So if someone were to deem you as a threat, your gun rights would be taken away, your due process rights would be ignored and you would have to wait for an unspecified amount of time to try to get them back. This is so backward, it's embarrassing. Accused individuals are innocent until being proven guilty, not vice versa.
To help FPC defeat this bill, we must act now! The next step for this legislation will be a vote on the House floor. To write your federal legislators and demand that they OPPOSE HB 2377, simply click one of the "Vote Against Red Flag Law" buttons in this email. We need to remind those who are "pro-gun" and/or "pro-liberty" that we are watching and taking note of who is on the side of protecting constitutional rights and who is a co-conspirator in torpedoing our rights. FPC has provided a sample email for you to review, edit, and personalize prior to sending it off to your legislators.
Thank you for taking action on this fast-moving legislation that threatens the fundamental rights we treasure in America. Please feel free to share this email and encourage fellow gun rights supporters to become engaged in our opposition to this legislation. The more liberty advocates writing their members of Congress, the more impact we will have. We appreciate your continued support of FPC. We will keep you updated on the progress of U.S. House Bill 2377!

Arrests Continue, Following the Events of January 6
by Paloma A. Capanna, Attorney& Policy Analyst
The texts hit my phone in a rapid succession, signaling a problem. A friend of a friend was arrested, “and he only stepped on the grass – he didn’t even enter the building!” The building, in 2021, only refers to one structure vis-à-vis an arrest: the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
It’s December 1,2021 and, yes, the U.S. Department of Justice continues to make arrests relating to the events of January 6. To date, more than 700 have been arrested and charged with traditional crimes like trespass to conspiracy. No defendant has been charged with a firearms-related charge and no defendant has been charged with insurrection.
Former DOJ attorney Michael Sherwin announced the “shock & awe campaign” to arrest and charge as many defendants as possible ahead of the January 20 presidential inauguration. The legal documents drafted by the DOJ and the Federal Bureau of Investigation often look hastily written. In one group of cases, the DOJ is on its “Fifth Superseding Indictment,” meaning that it charged, then investigated, then changed allegations and even charges, such that the cases have barely moved past the initial stage, called “the pleading stage.”
The DOJ is not concerned with facts. Its strategy is to charge and then settle through a plea deal. More than 100 of the defendants charged have signed off on plea bargains. There hasn’t been a single day of trial. No jury or bench verdict. No presentation of evidence. In fact, only a small fraction of Brady materials has been made available by DOJ to defense counsel, which would normally be on a short deadline under Speedy Trial laws. There is an entire body of cases approaching one year still awaiting exculpatory evidence, required to be turned over to defense attorneys. Defense attorneys keep stipulating to extensions in favor of the DOJ.
The cases with the first, scheduled trial date do not begin until April 19, 2022. The first defendants with that date certain for trial have been incarcerated pending trial since as early as January 16,2021.
This uber basic list of criticisms of the DOJ prosecutors and the FBI investigators pours through my mind in a flash as I read the equally rapid string of text messages from my friend. She knows I have been working in overdrive on an analysis of the events of January 6, since the events were unfolding before my eyes on TV. What can I say that is of comfort? How can I answer her questions?
My friend, like a number of you, joined me in the big tent during the 2020 Freedom Festival in Greeley, PA. A cold, then damp, and finally drizzly rainy weekend was weather that reflected the mood. Of all appearances I’ve made since August to speak about the events of January 6, I wasn’t expecting how many people in Greeley had a personal connection to the events of January 6 and to the roll-out that week in October of President Biden’s positioning of the FBI in schoolboard meetings.
There are times when the only way through is to go deeper into the darkness. This is one of those times. While there is still much to be learned about the events of January 6, this year has proven that the DOJ and the FBI and Democratic leadership in Congress do not care about the consequences of inflicting federal charges against many who did no more than attend the rally at the Ellipse and then walk to the Capitol, try to figure out what was already in progress, and turn around and go home – even where that decision to leave the Capitol area was made in good judgment with little to no information other than what could be observed at the scene.
It is going to require someone to go to trial, including immediately turning up the pressure on the DOJ through pre-trial motions and a literal public relations drive in order to slow down this steamroller.
The last time our country saw a comparable situation was in the years preceding World War I. In 1903, the FBI was born out of a paranoia against those who took a position contrary to the federal government’s public position on the war. Beginning in 1917,more than 500 Americans were charged under the Alien & Sedition Acts. As history is written, the summary is “they all lost,” including those who attempted to argue the First Amendment Free Speech Clause. The First Amendment, as a result, went dormant until the 1969 case of Brandenburg v. Ohio.
We cannot allow this to happen again. On a personal level, I am going to text my friend, you need to demonstrate as much support as you can afford – from spiritual to financial – do not abandon him as he walks through this gauntlet. On a group level, we must continue to do what the First Amendment protects us to lawfully do, such as the letter writing campaign in which we engaged in Greeley, and visits being made by Congresswoman Greene.
I can take you, dear readers, to whatever level of depth you wish on this topic. But, for now, truly, the first step is for us all to acknowledge we cannot sit passively on the sidelines while this game is playing out. More than 9,500 attorney sat the US DOJ are counting on us to do nothing and say nothing.

3rdAnnual Rod of Iron Freedom Festival October9-10, 2021
Inalienable: unable to be taken away from or given away bythe possessor.
We have inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our Founding Fathers fought to ensure this and created the Constitution. The Preamble of the Constitution defines :
1) form a more perfect union. 2)establish Justice. 3) insure domestic tranquility. 4) provide for common defense. 5) promote the general welfare. 6) secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
As Americans we are responsible to hold our employees, the elected officials, accountable to keep our best interests in mind, to protect these rights.
But how do we do that, in these uncertain times? The Rod of Iron Freedom Festival, made possible through the generosity of Kahr Arms to provide the venue and the blessings from God through Pastor Sean Moon, is a free family-friendly event that brings people together from many cultures and countries. Here we learn from subject matter experts across a variety of fields about the current events that are shaping our future moment by moment. More importantly, the presenters and vendors at the Rod of Iron Freedom Festival teach each us what we can do to protect our God given freedom. This year was my first year at the festival and I feel it did touch on all the aspects of the Preamble, as evidenced by the schedule which you can see here Freedom Festival Schedule(rodofironfreedomfestival.org)
There was something for everyone
- food and other vendors sharing their talents and treasures, supporting and building community relationships
- authors signing their books
- the main stage keynote speakers and seminar tents for learning across a broad spectrum of topics
- a pictorial history of the Korean War
- experiences like axe throwing, the concealed carry fashion show and the gun range fo rpractice
- musical and cultural entertainment
- and a spectacular fireworks display (Saturday) and bonfire (Sunday)at the close of the event
The most amazing part of the event are all the volunteers that make it happen. There are so many details that need to be coordinated: developing the program; eliciting sponsors; building the website; printing the program; promoting the event; setting up the stage, tents, lighting, sound and video; confirming the talent, and all the logistics of their travel; supporting the VIP’s on site; providing Security, EMT/Police/Fire protection; facilitating all the vendor set ups, registration tent and greeting all the guests; tracking the seminar attendance; coordinating parking; setting up power and lights; providing sanitation and trash removal...there are many more, but you get the idea. The commitment, energy and dedication of the volunteer team creates an enjoyable way for neighbors, friends, and families to become communities of Americans who can take action to keep America free. I hope to see you at the next one!

Political Action Seminar in Harrisburg:
Every year when it gets close to Christmas, I always take time to read the Gospels where the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is recorded. This year the Lord brought my attention to Matthew 1: 18-25. In this portion of Scripture, Joseph realizes hat the Lord wants him to be the step-father of the Messiah. As I read the story, the Father impressed some truths upon my heart concerning the character of Joseph. Please open your Bible to Matthew 1 and read verses 18-25.
1) Notice Joseph’s obvious shock. V. 18
Notice that in Jewish custom, they were considered husband and wife even though they were only engaged. What if your fiancé told you that she was pregnant and that she had NOT had sex with anyone? Would you believe her? What would the neighbors, the rest of the family, and all of their friends say? Surely there would be much, harsh criticism! How would we have felt?
2) Notice Joseph’s reaction Vs. 19, 20
Please note what God says about Joseph. He was a “just” man. He was fair, gracious and merciful towards Mary. He took the time to think this through. He was not rash, but was patient and wise. V.20a
The Lord reminded me of an important principle. God was working and, for a period of time, Joseph was not aware. He was focused on solving his own problem. In reality the Father was working out His plan to save mankind, including Joseph. There are times when we have become upset, angry, depressed, confused, or rebellious because God was doing something that was challenging in our lives. We discover that God was actually working for our good after we come through the situation.
3) Notice Joseph’s teachability. Vs. 20-23
He was open to listen to God’s opinion.V.20 We see that he was obviously afraid of staying in the relationship. V.20 After he was reminded of what the prophecy said, it is obvious that it mattered to him what the Bible said.
4) Notice Joseph’s obedience. Vs. 21, 24, 25
We see that he chose to obey the angel. He took Mary for his wife regardless of the criticism that would come his way. He obeyed the angel and named Him Jesus.
So, this Christmas as we celebrate the gift of the Lord Jesus’ birth, please take a few minutes and think about the character of Joseph. Even though he was shocked at the challenging news, he reacted correctly. He thought it through, allowed the Lord to teach him, then chose to obey the will of God for his life. His obedience had a major impact on the lives of many and he had the awesome privilege of raising the Messiah! In the coming year when the Father challenges us to do great things for Him, God help us to respond as Joseph did.
MerryChristmas & Happy New year!

Pastor Gary W. Haskell, Sr. has been the pastor of Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson, Pennsylvania for 33years. Since becoming the pastor, he has been focused on building the lives of his people individually. Every member that chooses to be discipled on a one on one" basis is given weekly, personal attention. Once they have been trained and ministered to, they are then able to minister to others in the same way. Because of that, the Church has several members who are able to teach, counsel, minister and serve. The Lord has taken Pastor Haskell to many local churches both in the States and also several other countries. The Lord has used him to teach leadership, evangelism, counseling and especially the ministry of Biblical discipleship.
